aboutBOOK
Trade Unions Workers Organizations in The Bahamas – Origin, National Contributions & Challenges: Are They Relevant Today? explores the origin, development and progress of unions as the country grew from a colony to being independent. Although the hypothesis was to determine if workers' unions are still relevant in the world of work, in The Bahamas, it was also imperative to revisit the workers’ organizations history, highlight influential leaders and reflect on the early struggles of the movement.
It was also necessary to note the workers’ movements role in the transformation of the country, such as majority rule and establishing a new economy. Unions that have made significant contributions and continue to be impactful to the national development of The Bahamas, its challenges must also be examined. As a human right, it is vital to focus on employment in The Bahamas as an evolutionary institution that will sustain the growth of the country.
